Performance Assessment of Reinforced Concrete Frame under Close-In Blast Loading

The need for assessing and retrofitting structures increased with time as terrorism-induced explosion trends rose time. This paper presents a numerical investigation on performance assessment of two-story, one-bay seismic resistant reinforced concrete framed building under close-in blast loading. ANSYS AUTODYN, an explicit nonlinear finite element software program, was used 3D model development analysis. experimental results reported in the literature were to validate proposed FE models. Furthermore, parametric studies explosive story-to-story locations charge masses performed both conventional seismically detailed RC structures. FEA showed that decrease scaled distance raised effective plastic strain damage index values. simultaneous use close-spaced transverse steel reinforcement spacing mid-height ends columns is found be reducing strains
